Kelly Gneiting is a Sumo Wrestler and with his size, he fits right in. However, he is now seeking the LA Marathon and becoming the heaviest man to ever do so. If he does, he says he will be sending a message to a society obsessed with being thin. “Big people,” he says, “can do the unimaginable.”
He slowly jogs up hills on the Navajo reservation in northeastern Arizona where he calls home. He weighs 405 pounds and is not embarrassed by an ounce of it as trucks drive by and almost hit him as his shoulders are so broad. “With what I’m facing,” he says, “I have to prove to myself I can do this.”
